My story:
Choco was rescued from the pound a few weeks ago after spending far too many months there. We were informed that he had difficulty walking, and when we took him to the vet, it was confirmed that both of his knee ligaments are torn, and he suffers from severe arthritis.
Further tests, including a leishmaniasis test, showed a very high positive result, which explains some of his condition. For this reason, Choco needs to start treatment as soon as possible.
Fortunately, the vets confirmed that surgery is not necessary. His foster family shared with us:
“He now enjoys long walks with so much happiness. He can climb stairs and go in and out of the garden by himself when he feels like being outdoors. He no longer spends all his time lying on the sofa like he did before. Daily walks have really helped activate his muscles, which were quite atrophied after over a year in the pound without exercise. Day by day, he’s getting stronger, more playful, and he almost runs to the door when he thinks someone is going outside. He even plays on the beach with other dogs. And, of course, he loves receiving affection and cuddles all the time.”
Choco loves walks, the sofa, playing, eating, and enjoying life. He is proving that, with love and care, he can continue to improve and be incredibly happy.
However, his foster period is coming to an end, and he may have to go to the shelter. If you’re interested in fostering him, please get in touch with us.
