My story:
Pixel is just a dog. Nothing more, nothing less.
Scruffy, mixed-breed, active, about 6 years old and 11 kilos—and like so many others, one day, overnight, he went from living with “a family” to living in a cage. Four walls and bars, maybe a bed if he was lucky, but no blankets or mattress. Many dogs, all together, all barking, jumping against the bars, day and night, locked in there. He had been abandoned at the kennel—and worst of all, without understanding why or what he had done wrong.
Nothing. Pixel had done nothing wrong. His family probably grew tired of him, or moved away, or his owner died and no one wanted to take care of him. THAT IS THE REALITY. A dog in this society is worth nothing. That is why kennels are overflowing. That is why there are hundreds of dogs on the streets.
Luckily, Pixel crossed our path and came to Suspiros. The first days were hard—another change, especially when they come from living under so much stress.
But there is no doubt: Pixel is a family dog. You just have to see him enjoying the beach thanks to one of our volunteers.
We hope that soon we will find a family for him, because they all deserve one—but for those who have already known what it means to have a family, being in a shelter is even harder.
