My story:
Turco is a big Malinois mix, just over a year old.
Turco was a puppy who lived with some squatters on a farm in a village in Malaga. When he was about 8 months old the police evicted the squatters and sealed the farm leaving Turco and the rest of the animals (chickens and rabbits) on the farm, alone, surrounded by garbage, with no water, no food, no possibility to go out.
Some neighbors occasionally threw a piece of bread or some feed through the door, but no one took care of him. One of our volunteers found out about the case and began to bring him food and water and to gain Turco’s trust. The chickens and rabbits were dying or disappearing and Turco was left there alone, trapped.
The moment we had the chance and thanks to our volunteer who moved heaven and earth we got Turco out of there. He was in bones, with some wounds and above all with a lot of anxiety because he had been alone for so many months.
In the first tests Turco was positive for Leishmania and anemia, but after a few months of care, good food, medication and a lot of work with walks and education Turco has improved a lot.
This big guy is ready to find a family.
We know that his Leishmania and his size (more than 30 kilos) play against him, but we are sure that family will come. In the meantime he is happy with us at the shelter.
